The last original JIGER model was the 197. It was introduced sometime in 1967. The new engine was moved to the left hand side to help weight distribution for a single occupant and the fact the new JLO L197 rotated the opposite direction from it's L152 predecessor. The muffler was moved outside of the body to the left hand rear side. The new JLO L197 had 2/3 more torque and consumed 20% less fuel. The fuel tank was reduced in size and the mount was changed. The clutch system was also changed from 1 single spring, to 4 smaller ones to improve efficiency. The drive system on the 197 also had 3 selectable speed ranges, adjustable at the pulley system. This gave a great range of torque and speed. Also the one piece fibreglass seat was eliminated for an aluminum cross bar with two flip up seats. This provided better access and space for the larger engine. There were 1287 Jiger 197's produced.
